Day 1

Bali to Banyuwangi – Overnight Stay in Banyuwangi

Your Ijen adventure begins at 09:00 AM Bali time. Our driver will pick you up directly from your hotel in Bali before heading to Gilimanuk Harbour. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, depending on your hotel's location and traffic conditions.

Upon reaching Gilimanuk Harbour, you will board a ferry to Ketapang Harbour in East Java. The crossing takes around one hour. After arriving in Banyuwangi, we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch (at your own expense) before continuing to your accommodation.

Once you arrive at the hotel, check in and take some time to unwind. You can enjoy the available facilities and relax for the rest of the day before the midnight hiking excursion to Ijen Crater.

Note: The estimated travel time to Gilimanuk Harbour is approximately 4–5 hours from Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Legian, and Denpasar; around 30 minutes from Pemuteran; and approximately 2 hours from Lovina.

Day 2

Ijen Crater Midnight Hike – Return to Bali

Our Ijen Crater excursion starts at approximately 00:00 AM. We will leave the hotel and drive to Paltuding Base Camp, the starting point for the Mount Ijen hike, situated at an elevation of around 1,800 metres. The journey takes approximately one hour, passing through traditional villages, rice fields, and forested areas with towering trees.

Upon arrival at Paltuding, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while our team explains the hiking route and provides important safety instructions. At approximately 02:00 AM, we will begin the ascent towards Mount Ijen's summit area.

The hiking trail covers approximately 3 kilometres and usually takes 1.5–2 hours, depending on your physical condition and walking pace. There are six checkpoints along the route, with small stalls and toilet facilities available at most stops.

After reaching the upper section of Mount Ijen, at approximately 2,386 metres above sea level, we will continue towards the crater rim. For those who wish to see the famous Blue Fire, the route involves descending approximately 800 metres along steep, rocky, and slippery terrain. This descent generally takes around 30–45 minutes.

The Blue Fire is a rare natural spectacle created by ignited sulphuric gases. If weather conditions and official access restrictions permit, you will have the opportunity to witness this remarkable phenomenon and take photographs of the experience.

Important note: If you feel unable to descend to the Blue Fire area due to physical limitations, you can skip this section and proceed directly to the sunrise viewpoint.

After exploring the Blue Fire area, we will climb back up the same trail and continue towards the sunrise point. The walk usually takes between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on your pace. From the viewpoint, enjoy the panoramic scenery of Ijen Crater and capture memorable photos of the surrounding volcanic landscape.

At around 07:00 AM, we will descend to Paltuding Base Camp before returning to the accommodation for breakfast and a shower.

At approximately 11:00 AM, we will check out and travel to Ketapang Harbour, where you will board a ferry across the Bali Strait to Gilimanuk Harbour. The ferry crossing takes around one hour.

Upon arriving at Gilimanuk Harbour, our driver will take you to your hotel in Bali. The transfer time depends on your destination and traffic conditions.

Estimated travel time from Gilimanuk Harbour to your accommodation: Approximately 4–5 hours to Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Legian, and Denpasar; around 30 minutes to Pemuteran; and approximately 2 hours to Lovina.

Your Ijen adventure concludes upon arrival at your hotel in Bali.
