Itinerary

Day 1

Bali to Banyuwangi – Overnight Stay in Banyuwangi

Your Ijen and Bromo journey starts at 09:00 AM Bali time. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Bali and take you to Gilimanuk Harbour. The drive generally takes around 4–5 hours, depending on your hotel's location and traffic conditions.

Once you arrive at Gilimanuk Harbour, you will board a ferry to Ketapang Harbour in East Java. The crossing takes approximately one hour. After arriving in Banyuwangi, we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch (at your own expense) before heading to your accommodation.

After checking in, you can relax and enjoy the hotel facilities. Take the opportunity to rest and prepare yourself for the midnight trekking adventure to Ijen Crater.

Note: The estimated journey to Gilimanuk Harbour is around 4–5 hours from Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Legian, and Denpasar; approximately 30 minutes from Pemuteran; and around 2 hours from Lovina.

Day 2

Ijen Crater Midnight Adventure – Transfer to the Bromo Area

Our Ijen excursion begins at approximately 00:00 AM, when we depart from the hotel and head to Paltuding Base Camp, the starting point for the Mount Ijen hike, located at around 1,800 metres above sea level. The drive takes approximately one hour, passing through local villages, rice fields, and forested areas filled with towering trees.

Upon reaching Paltuding, you can enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea while our guide explains the hiking route and provides essential instructions before the climb. At around 02:00 AM, we will start trekking towards the summit of Mount Ijen.

The trail stretches for approximately 3 kilometres and usually takes 1.5–2 hours to complete, depending on your fitness level and walking speed. There are six checkpoints along the route, with small food stalls and toilet facilities available at most stops.

After reaching the upper part of Mount Ijen, at an elevation of approximately 2,386 metres, we will continue towards the crater rim. For those wishing to witness the famous Blue Fire, the adventure involves descending approximately 800 metres along a steep, rocky, and slippery trail. The descent to the crater floor takes around 30–45 minutes.

The Blue Fire is a fascinating natural phenomenon caused by ignited sulphuric gases. If access is permitted and conditions are suitable, you will have the opportunity to observe this rare spectacle and capture some memorable photographs.

Important note: If you feel unable to descend to the Blue Fire area due to physical limitations, you may skip this section and proceed directly to the sunrise viewpoint.

After exploring the Blue Fire area, we will climb back up the same trail and continue towards the sunrise point. The walk usually takes between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on your pace. From the viewpoint, enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Ijen Crater and take photographs of its impressive volcanic landscape.

At approximately 07:00 AM, we will descend to Paltuding Base Camp. After completing the hike, we will have breakfast before continuing our journey to Sukapura, Probolinggo, where your accommodation in the Bromo area is located.

The drive takes approximately 5–6 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions. Along the way, you will pass through rural villages, forested landscapes, open savannah areas, and urban settlements.

Upon arrival at your accommodation, check in and enjoy the refreshing mountain atmosphere around Mount Bromo. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and getting enough rest before the early-morning sunrise excursion.

Day 3

Mount Bromo Sunrise Tour – Transfer to Surabaya

The final day of your adventure begins at approximately 03:30 AM, when our 4WD jeep picks you up from your hotel for the Mount Bromo sunrise experience.

We will travel to some of the most well-known viewpoints along the Tengger Caldera, including Penanjakan and Kingkong Hill, situated at an elevation of approximately 2,700 metres. From these locations, you can witness the sunrise while enjoying panoramic views of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru.

After sunrise, we will continue the adventure across the vast Sea of Sand surrounding Mount Bromo. From the jeep parking area, you can choose to walk or take an optional horse ride towards the staircase leading to the crater rim.

At around 08:30 AM, we will return to the hotel for breakfast, a shower, packing, and check-out. Once everything is ready, we will depart for Surabaya, with an estimated driving time of 3–4 hours depending on traffic conditions.

Upon arrival in Surabaya, your Ijen and Bromo adventure comes to an end.
